Food is very delicious, a little pricey considering you make most of it in like 10 mins with ingredients from Uwajimaya across the street. But if you don't feel like doing that this is so worth it! The melon soda is delicious and picture worthy, the curry is exactly what you want, the dipping udon as well. Nothing is too crazy or too bland it is perfect Japanese diner food. The service is very kind we wanted to change our order and they were very understanding. They also brought lots of pickles upon asking for extra. My only quips: Super not accessible, only accessible by stairs sadly. Eggs, the egg in the egg doria was super raw and I completely understand that Japanese people love raw egg but that is because Japanese eggs are much better quality than most American eggs, and I could tell this egg was not to this quality, making the dish mucus-y and odd.
5 Stars still, for the nostalgia and great comfort food. Our local Cheers, from the coming here after clubbing (years ago :)) to the pre-funks before Hawks games, to the finding something familiar and safe and comforting in the ID, you can't go wrong here. A tad divey, a tad quaint = good times. Great service from the servers, though recent bartender experience was subpar, not gonna let it affect the rating here cuz everyone has bad days. Last 2 visits the music was metal, grungy, giving the Seattle vibes before Hawks games, loved it. Its Seattle, with a Japanese twist on it all. 乾杯!!!!!!!
I've been wanting to try this place for many years now and I've finally made it. I got their Japanese curry which is what they are known for. I got one with hamburger steak and the other either omelet. The curry was really good and rich in flavor and I'm telling it compliments really well with the rice. I could eat plate after plate of just the curry sauce and rice alone. Their curry really opened up my appetite. I think the curry works better with the hamburger steak over the omelet.
Nice hidden little spot with a cozy atmosphere. My husband and I parked on the street. It's located upstairs inside of what looks like a little shopping area. Service was friendly and we were seated at a table. Food: - cream soda - we got this because it looks like a classic! Lots of people ordered this but it was on the sweet side in my opinion - bacon Doria rice - this was yummy - hamburger curry - curry sauce was just ok. Nothing special but the hamburger was pretty tasty.
Was brought here by a friend and didn't know what to expect but the restaurant seemed very well loved and known by customers. Ordered the Buta Kimchi (twice!) and it was our favorite dish of the evening. The Zaru Soba was classic and tasty. Not my favorite noodle dish I've discovered but as far as soba goes, this is well done. The tempura was a bit disappointing. Got soggy quickly - I would've rather gotten a small side of tempura with the Udon (this is offered). Tempura didn't come with a sauce so the Udon dip was needed. It came on a bed of rice. Ambiance was great. Staff was attentive and friendly!
